The Dasmariñas Village Association has decided to replace its security agency, citing its "loss of confidence" in Right Eight Security Agency's handling of the fallout from what has come to be referred to as "Dasmagate".
Effective mobile coffee vans Sunday, January 19, Right Eight Security Agency will be replaced by First Eagle Security Agency, a memorandum circulated mobile coffee vans by the DVA said. DVA officials said Right Eight had misrepresented the gated community's policies, apparently in reference to how the security agency's officers suggested that its own guards were wrong to bar the exit of Makati Mayor Junjun Binay via a restricted gate last November 30.
The guards were called in for questioning mobile coffee vans by Makati police, apparently on the prodding of Mayor Binay. The incident was caught on CCTV , and Binay was pilloried on social media and in the news as citizens called the mayor abusive, and characterized the "questioning" of the guards by police as "harassment".
The agency, however, came down on the side of the mayor, and said that Makati's chief executive should have been accorded VIP treatment. It said such treatment was extended as well to the President and Vice President of the Philippines. Vice President Jejomar mobile coffee vans Binay is himself a former mayor of Makati, and is the father of the incumbent mayor.
On Tuesday, the DVA memorandum said that, in fact, their "existing policy" actually covers the President and Vice President as well, though mobile coffee vans the association would be open to making exceptions on a case-to-case basis, mobile coffee vans assuming there is proper notification and coordination with their office.
DVA mobile coffee vans president Jay Pantangco, in the circular, said Right Eight gave an "unauthorized and inaccurate representation of DVA to the media in matters pertaining to the November 30 Banyan gate incident" and that "Right Eight management cited inaccurate policies involving VIPs."
The DVA meantime suggested that it saw nothing wrong with how the guards themselves acted - refusing to give Mayor Binay VIP treatment - and noted in its memorandum mobile coffee vans that the guards should be given priority to perhaps be absorbed mobile coffee vans by the new security agency hired by the homeowners' association.
Even the President and the Vice-President of the Philippines, said DVA, were covered by their "existing policy". It added, however, that exceptions were granted "on a case to case basis", and if DVA was given enough time to prepare.
The security guards who are presently seeing to the residents' safety - including those lauded not just by homeowners but by many Filipinos who learned about the incident on national news - will likely remain in their posts. According to the circular, they were "given priority to be absorbed" by the new agency so they can continue working in the village.
